Flexible and reliable remote monitoring system

چکیده

Remote monitoring of large civil structures in uneasily accesslible locations gains increasing interest. Either the reliability of new contruction technologies has to be verified or the health of a structure has to be assessed. Regular sensors for strain, temperature, load etc. can be easily monitored by conventional data loggers. In cases where not so conventional sensors have to be monitored like optical fiber sensors, or when data originates from several sources, or the data have to be analyzed for critical conditions immediately and communication with the remote system has to be stable, then conventional systems show their limitations. Either some features are not available, they lack stability or are complex and difficult to handle.
